Dr. Àlex Rovira has been appointed as the new chair of the “Referral Guidelines” Subcommittee of the European Society of Radiology

The Board of Directors of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) has appointed Dr. Àlex Rovira, from the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona), as the new chair of the “Referral Guidelines” subcommittee, which is included within the “Quality, Safety and Standards” Committee

The objectives of this subcommittee include the review and maintenance of recommendations on the appropriate use of imaging tests (ESR iGuide) based on patient data, together with their level of appropriateness, estimated cost, and expected radiation exposure. This system was developed in 2014 and is based on the guidelines of the American College of Radiology (ACR) adapted for European guidelines and tested in several European locations.
